ART/VIDEO – Copying and Studying Cartoon Characters

What’s the different between studying a figure from a photo and studying a drawing for cartoon character?  Nothing.

When studying both you do exactly the same thing with both:

  1. Look at the overall shape the character makes
  2. Look at the gesture
  3. Look at the negative spaces
  4. Measure everything (space and place)
  5. Find the volume of the forms LAST.  Don’t worry about it until 1- 4 are worked out.
