ART/VIDEO – Figuring Out the Anatomy of Cartoon Characters

Figuring out the anatomy of a cartoon characterMost cartoons have some basis of real exaggerated anatomy.  There are exceptions but for the most part this is true.

The reason for this is that many cartoons are drawn by people who have had some sort of tradition academic drawing training.  This is why it was interesting for me to be asked how to someone where to figure out a cartoon’s anatomy.

For the most part, you begin designing a cartoon using exaggerated anatomy.  However, this week I still made a video showing how this is so.  And I also show how have knowledge of anatomy also helps when figuring out the anatomy of characters that are very far away from looking anatomical.  Like The Simpsons.
