Drawing From Reference: Part 02

ART/VIDEO – Drawing From Reference: Part 02

In part 2 of drawing from reference I, well, draw the reference.  I do some adjustments based on the reason, I’m using the reference for.

I use the principles I talked about in the first video. I show you how they work in order to place all the foundations for an accurate drawing:

Want To Get a Video From Me?

If you liked this video and would like me to discuss something you think I might know about…

If you want to ask me a question about drawing that you might be struggling with…

If you want to suggest a character or drawing you’d like me to draw, feel free to ask or suggest away, either here on my comments or anywhere else you’d like to contact me.

Just be aware that my Patreon patrons get their questions answered first and they get to see the videos weeks before anyone else.

ART/VIDEO – Drawing From Reference: Part 01

I was asked by a few people, about how to approach drawing from reference. In this four part video series, I’m going to talk about this.

However, I’m also going to be specifically talking about using reference in order to change it for difference purpose.

In this video I introduce my reference and the principles I’m going to use to approach using it:

Want To Get a Video From Me?

If you liked this video and would like me to discuss something you think I might know about…

If you want to ask me a question about drawing that you might be struggling with…

If you want to suggest a character or drawing you’d like me to draw, feel free to ask or suggest away, either here on my comments or anywhere else you’d like to contact me.

ART/BOOKS – Creative Illlustration by Andrew Loomis Book Review

There aren’t very many books I can point to and say that they’re an illustration course in a book. Creative Illustration is definitely one of those books.

This week I take about this wonderful book. How it was out of print for many years and why you should take advantage of the fact that it’s back in print now.

Have a look:

ART/STORYBOARDING – Basic Storyboarding Tips: Part 2

It’s been a while since I published the last video on this topic.  It takes time to make all the visual notes so I can talk about them.  At least I got to it.

This video I talk about shots with multiple people and the as well as shot that aren’t necessarily at eye level and what they are best used for.

I hope it’s helpful to you:

Figure Drawing Books Worth Owning 06: Figure Drawing For Artists by Steve Huston

ART/BOOKS – Figure Drawing Books Worth Owning 06: Figure Drawing For Artists by Steve Huston

My favorite figure drawing teacher, Steve Huston, released a figure drawing book and it’s awesome.  This is the 6th and last figure drawing book I’m recommending in this series.

Huston is probably the figure drawing teacher I’ve taken the most classes with.  His classes had a great balance of academically solid drawing foundations but with a slight design flair.

If you can’t take a class with Steve Huston, you can at least pick up his book.  In the video, I show you what’s in it and why it’s worth picking up.
