ART/BOOKS – Cartooning The Head and Figure by Jack Hamm Book Review

When I first started cartooning, one of the most helpful books I owned and still own, was Cartooning The Head and Figure by Jack Hamm.

I had the book on hand by my drawing desk at all times. It was such a handy resources for drawing cartoons I had.  I learned tons and even, to this day when I look at it, there’s still so many things the book shows that I haven’t even tried yet.

Find out more about what makes this book great in my book review below:

Great Cartoon Book: Character Mentor by Tom Bancroft

ART/VIDEO – Great Cartoon Book: Character Mentor by Tom Bancroft

There’s a TON of how to draw cartoon books out there.  I even wrote one.

This is a good thing because not everyone learns the same way. Some people resonate better than others with different types of people.

However, there are some cartoon books that I personally think stand out more than others.  Books that, I would personally recommend to anyone asking me.

The book I talk about in this video is one such book.  I really think it’s worth owning.  In this video, I explain why.

Best How To Draw Animal Books Part 2: The Art of Animal Drawing by Ken Hultgren

ART/VIDEO – Best How To Draw Animal Books Part 2:  The Art of Animal Drawing by Ken Hultgren

Part 2 of my exploration of animal drawing books.

Not all animal drawing books are great.  Some are better than others, and even the good ones don’t cover everything.

This is why it’s good to have more than one drawing book.  If one book doesn’t answer your question, maybe another will.  Or maybe one answers your question but it does it in a way that doesn’t resonate with you.

It’s always good to have other approaches on hand.

In this video I cover my other “go to” animal drawing book.  Watch the video to see what’s so great about this one:

Best How To Draw Animal Books Part 1: Famous Artist School “How to Draw Animals”

BOOKS/VIDEO – Best How To Draw Animal Books Part 1:  Famous Artist School “How to Draw Animals”

Animal drawing tends to show up when you least expect it. Whether you’re new at drawing or you’ve been drawing for a while, if you haven’t really practiced drawing animals, this can cause problems.

When this occurs, it’s best to have something to help you with animal drawing.  My go to solution for this are two books.  The video below talks about the first book.

It’s helped me get through some tough animal drawing problems.  I love it.  One of the best books on animal drawing out there.

Watch the video to see why:

In the next post, I’ll talk about my other “go to” animal drawing book.
