ART/VIDEOS – Drawing the Body Bullet in Dynamic Poses

In a lesson I wrote about drawing bodies, I wrote about two different body formulas I use.  One of those is what I dubbed The Bullet.

I got it from my figure drawing teacher Steve Huston.  I’ve found it very useful over the years.

I was asked by a Youtube video viewer if I could show examples of this formula in action.  Examples of what this formula looks like in dynamic poses.

ART/VIDEOS – Cartoon Drawing Tips 02

This is the second cartoon drawing tips.  In this video I go over a slightly more complicated cartoon character, namely Shaggy from Scooby Doo.

I go over forms and solidity, as well as check the perspective of the character and the positioning of body parts in space.  I try to clarify how forms turn in space and how you can work that out as you break down the characters.

And of course, I mention how mastering the fundamentals are key to getting everything to work well. I hope you get a lot out of it these tips:

ART/VIDEOS – Cartoon Drawing Tips 01

Breaking down a character can be trickier than you think. If you don’t have your fundamentals down.

This week go over a viewer’s break down drawing of Bug Bunny. He asked me to do so.  He was wondering why his drawing wasn’t turning out the way he wanted.

I not only give him pointers but I talk about the specific drawing fundamentals he’s lacking, why they’re important to know and how he can learn to fix them.

If you’ve tried to break down a cartoon character and it didn’t go so well, it’s possible, you may be doing the same things.  Watch the video to get the pointers to do better next time.
