The Four Draw Fu Chambers Of Imaginative Drawing

October 25, 2018 in ART, VIDEOS

ART/VIDEOS – The Four Draw Fu Chambers Of Imaginative Drawing

Imaginative drawing is perhaps one of the simplest and hardest things to do.  It’s simple because, most of us as kids, drew from our imagination.  It came easily to us.

We didn’t judge ourselves, we just did it.

Drawing from our imagination with the quality that we want, on the other hand, can get tricky and frustrating.  Even if we master the skill of observational drawing, imaginative drawing can still be tricky.  This is because there’s a specific group of skills that have to come together to draw from your imagination well.

This is why I made this video.  I give you a list of the four skills you need to hone to get the results you want.

Want To Get a Video From Me?

If you liked this video and would like me to discuss something you think I might know about…

If you want to ask me a question about drawing that you might be struggling with…

If you want to suggest a character or drawing you’d like me to draw, feel free to ask or suggest away, either here on my comments or anywhere else you’d like to contact me.

Just be aware that my Patreon patrons get their questions answered first and they get to see the videos weeks before anyone else.

The Eye Of The Painter And The Elements Of Beauty By Andrew Loomis Review

BOOKS – The Eye Of The Painter And The Elements Of Beauty By Andrew Loomis Review

As of the time of this writing, this book is the only one of Andrew Loomis’ books that isn’t in print.  I’m not sure why.

However, it’s possible to find a pdf copy of this public domain book if you want to read it. This is how I’ve read it and so now I’m going to review it.

If you’re like me and are interested in painting, then this book and Loomis’ Creative Illustration are the two books that deal with the subject.

Is this book worth seeking out, buying or downloading?  This is what I talk about in this video:

Studying A Subject For Drawing And Other Challenges Oct. Patreon Rewards Video 2018

ART/VIDEO – Studying A Subject For Drawing And Other Challenges Oct. Patreon Rewards Video 2018

When you’re not sure how to draw something, you’re going to need to study it.  As artists, we need to do this quite a bit, since there’s a lot of things we don’t know how to draw.  Especially at first.

The question is, how do you go about studying something?

I’ve been studying drawing canines for the last few weeks.  It’s going to take me a few more to finally get them down to my liking.  In the Patreon Rewards video I talk show you my method for studying. I also share the rest of the art I created this month and it’s ups and downs.

I also share the purchase of yet another sketchbook and why I bought it.

Drawing The Head And Hands by Andrew Loomis Review

October 4, 2018 in BOOKS

BOOKS – Drawing The Head And Hands by Andrew Loomis Review

There are three major challenges when drawing the figure. The first challenge is drawing the figure itself.  By which I mean the general head shape, the body and all it’s appendages.

The second challenging thing which is just as difficult as drawing the figure, is simply getting the head right.  We all know what a head looks like, and when it’s drawn poorly, we can really tell.

The third challenging part of drawing the figure which is also as difficult as the whole figure and drawing the head right is drawing hands.  Hands are a huge challenge.  You want to see who’s a good draftsman and who’s a bad one?  See how well they draw hands.

Andrew Loomis tackled drawing the figure in one book, but he also dedicated a whole book on just drawing heads and hands.  This shows how important a topic it is.

Is the book good?  Should you get it?

I talk about the book in this video:
