Sketchbook Tour 03

ART – Sketchbook Tour 03

Even when one sketchbook is working well, it doesn’t mean all your sketchbooks will turn out the same.

In my last Sketchbook Tour I shared a sketchbook that was mostly successful.  It had a lot of breakthrough moments for me.  However, that sketchbook was only one of two that I worked on at the same time.

It’s sister was the tan sketchbook I share in this video.  This sketchbook was far more hit or miss.  Some drawing didn’t turn out very well, while others worked out better than I’d hoped.

Some drawings even make me want to see if I could produce the same results.  Especially since I haven’t been able to replicate that look since.

Sketchbook Tour 02

VIDEOS – Sketchbook Tour 02

This is the sketchbook where my drawings began to make a turn for the better.  This is a sketchbook of many breakthroughs.  After years of being a pro, I still didn’t like most of what I did until this sketchbook.

In the first Sketchbook book tour, you saw me study, try and fail.  This is the sketchbook where everything I worked for started to pay off.

However, before I could get to this point, I had to do what I did in the previous sketchbook, fail a lot.

There’s some light censorship in this video. Nothing too crazy. If you’d like to see the uncensored version you can view it here via Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/posts/22638602

Philosophy, Studying Animal Anatomy and Giveaway, Patreon Rewards Nov 2018

VIDEOS – Philosophy, Studying Animal Anatomy and Giveaway, Patreon Rewards Nov 2018

It was “Inktober” last month. That meant that every day I had to produce an ink drawing for the whole month of October.

The idea behind Inktober is the study of drawing with ink.  This is something I like to do anyway.  It wasn’t a big deal.

However, a lot of what I did was in fact, studying anatomy drawing.  I also did a few ink washes and drew a very personal drawing which I explain in the video.

I present the winner of this months giveaway too, and I talk a little philosophy and the purpose of art.

Sketchbook Tour 01

Sketchbook Tour 01

Sharing one’s sketchbook feels like inviting someone to you’re bathroom as you take a shower. You feel very vulnerable and exposed.

At least this is how I felt sharing mine.  I did it anyway though, and I’m going to do it more than once.

This the first of my sketchbook tours where I share some of my sketchbooks with the world.  Something I never expected to do and was never intending to do.

Still, I thought that it would be helpful to my follower to do so for four reasons:

  • It shows that drawing is a process. It’s not just handed to you from the heavens.
  • It shows how a sketchbook can be used. But it isn’t by any means the only way to use one.
  • It may inspire you to use a sketchbook as well.
  • It shows progress.  It shows where I was at one point compared to where I am now.

I hope you get a lot out of this video.
